Considered to be one of the most misunderstood and misdiagnosed mental illnesses, Borderline Personality Disorder is a personality disorder marked by an ongoing pattern of varying moods, challenges with self-image, and a pattern of unstable relationships.

Symptoms of Borderline Personality often result in impulsive actions, difficulties in relationships, and managing emotions.

New insights into Borderline Personality Disorder have led to new, more effective treatments; making the prognosis for someone diagnosed with the disorder much more promising. Current research shows that with the right support and treatment, most people with Borderline Personality Disorder will be able to terminate the diagnostic label.

Borderline Personality Disorder is referred to as a bio-social disorder, meaning that it starts with a biological inclination which is exacerbated by the social environment. Causes of Borderline Personality Disorder is believed to be the result of an invalidating childhood environment, trauma, abuse, and neglect. The disorder can also be a result of a caregiver minimizing or discounting a child’s emotional reactions if they believe it’s exaggerated or inappropriate.

Please Note:

Although Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) was developed to treat Borderline Personality Disorder, research shows that DBT has also been used successfully to treat people impacted by C.P.T.S.D (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), depression, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse. DBT skills are believed to have the capability of helping those who wish to improve their ability to regulate emotions, tolerate distress and negative emotions, practice mindfulness, and communicate and interact effectively with others.

This program is not limited to those diagnosed with BPD, however, those diagnosed with BPD will be given priority. Please inquire if you would like to be considered for admission.
